Cryptomax - Encrypt your sensible data
If you share your computer with someone else, privacy can be an issue. You may hide your important files anywhere on the hard drive, but a simple search function will find them without any difficulties. Cryptomax will secure your data by adding it to an encrypted archive which can not be accessed by any Windows or third party applications.
The software is free and you can install it after downloading a small archive which contains the setup kit. The setup process will take a bit longer to complete, but not by much. It is compatible with most Windows versions, but if you are planning to use it on Win 98, you will need to install MS Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime Files.
Before you can add any files, you must create a secure archive. The process is simple and it only requires setting up an output path and typing a password. Once created, you can load individual files or whole folders on the main area of the interface. The files will be added to the archive immediately after selecting them, so there is nothing else you will need to do, except closing the program.
The archive will be created in the software's own format (.xea). If you try to access it, Windows will not know what program to use. The only way to decrypt the files is to load the archive into Cryptomax's interface and to provide the correct password. Once the archive is loaded, the files can be copied anywhere on the hard drive by clicking the Extract button on the toolbar and specifying an output path.
Pros:
The interface has a simple design and there are not too many options on the toolbar or in the top menus. The secure archive can be accessed only with the software itself, if the correct password is provided.
Cosn:
It is not possible to set automatic actions like deleting the original files after encrypting them.
Cryptomax lets you secure sensible information with its fast and reliable encryption feature. Even beginners can encrypt data, thanks to the program's user friendly design.
